Fitness Lying Down Almost Never Happened

There’s a story behind Fitness Lying Down that most people don’t know.

Before the gym, before the community, before the kettlebells, Ultimate Sandbags, resistance bands, DVRT training, MIM sessions, and all the movement-based strength training we do today…FLD almost never happened.

That might sound strange now, especially if you’ve walked through our doors in La Crosse and experienced the energy, coaching, and community that make Fitness Lying Down different. But like many meaningful things in life, FLD was born out of uncertainty, frustration, and one of those moments that forces you to ask, “What now?”

FLD was not built from comfort.

It was built from a season of change, risk, and the belief that fitness coaching could be done differently.

More Than Just a Gym in La Crosse

At Fitness Lying Down, we’ve never wanted to be just another gym. Our mission has always been to create a better training experience for real people — especially those who want strength training that helps them move better, feel better, and live better.

That means our approach to functional training is not about chasing random exercises, crushing people with workouts, or making fitness feel intimidating. It’s about coaching the whole human being.

We use tools like kettlebells, Ultimate Sandbags, resistance bands, DVRT, and Myofascial Integrated Movements because they help us train strength, mobility, core stability, balance, coordination, and real-life movement in a way that makes sense.
